Note for international students: Merit aid is specifically linked to the French baccalaureat mention Tres Bien. International students who obtained an equivalent distinction on their country's school leaving exam are generally not eligible.
How it works
Merit aid is fully automatic — the CROUS cross-references the lists of Tres Bien mentions provided by the rectorat (education authority). No separate application is required.
Each year: submit your DSE (Dossier Social Etudiant) between January and May on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr to renew your CROUS scholarship. Merit aid is automatically included in the renewal.
