Key figures for 2026
- Work limit for non-EU students: 964 hours/year (VLS-TS or étudiant permit)
- Algerian students: 850 hours/year + mandatory prior work authorisation (APT) from DREETS
- Gross minimum wage (SMIC): 12.02 €/hour (1,823.03 €/month gross at 35 h/week)
- Internship stipend (over 2 months): 4.35 €/hour minimum
Work authorisation
No separate work permit needed for non-EU students with a valid student permit. Employer verifies permit. Exception: Algerian students need APT before each new employer.
Types of student work
- CDD / seasonal: most common for students
- Internship (stage): not counted towards 964 h, stipend from 4.35 €/h
- Alternance: work-study, not counted towards 964 h, salary 27–100% SMIC
