€105 mandatory payment before university enrollment — CROUS scholarship recipients automatically exempt
The CVEC costs €105 (2025-2026 academic year) and must be paid before enrolling at any French university. It is paid exclusively online on cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr.
Without the CVEC attestation number, university enrollment is blocked — regardless of your academic admission.
Who pays the CVEC?
Must pay (€105):
- All students enrolled in higher education in France
- International students, regardless of nationality
- Work-study students (alternants)
Exempt (free certificate):
- CROUS scholarship recipients (boursiers CROUS, amounts 0 to 7)
- Refugees and beneficiaries of international protection
- Asylum seekers
- Stateless persons
Procedure
- Obtain your INE/BEA student number from your university
- Go to https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr
- Enter your INE/BEA number and email address
- Choose payment (€105) or exemption (if scholarship recipient)
- Pay by bank card (Visa or Mastercard — international cards accepted) or get free exemption certificate
- Download your CVEC attestation PDF and note the unique number
- Present the attestation number at university administrative registration
